I am Tanuj Samaddar, a youth activist from an economically marginal demographic strata in Assam - a region that remains peripheral in mainstream policy discourse of India. I am a Pradhan Mantri Bal Puraskar Award recipient from the President of India, I have also been awarded the Karmaveer Chakra Award by the UNDP. I’m a youth leader and a public policy enthusiast currently associated with IIT Guwahati and Indian National Science Academy (INSA)-Govt. of India. In the past I have served as a Global Youth Advisor in the Global Youth Advisory Council, Zimbabwe in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. I am also a member of the Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE) Working Group of YOUNGO-UNFCCC, Commonwealth Youth Climate Network (CYCN) and UNESCO's Inclusive Policy Lab. Additionally, I was nominated for the International Children's Peace Prize and also a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. I was appointed a Kentucky Colonel by the Governor of Kentucky in 2023 in recognition of my exceptional achievements (the highest civilian award of the Commonwealth of Kentucky). I am also associated with the International Women’s Peace Group - Busan Branch (South Korea). The government of Assam took a special note of my work and nominated me for the third highest civilian award of the state i.e. : "Assam Gaurav" award. I have been a UN Delegate and attended the Conference of Subsidiary Bodies this year hosted by the UNFCCC on behalf of YOUNGO representing India. I am a youth commission member of the Commission on Environmental, Economic and Social Policy at IUCN and will represent India in the World Conservation Congress' Youth Summit in Abu Dhabi
