Before We Say, Goodbye is a spatial narrative that explores the quiet threshold between living and leaving. Where memory, grief, reflection, and the celebration of life coexist. The project responds to the absence of dignified, emotionally supportive environments that allow individuals with terminal illnesses and their loved ones, to process both remembrance and parting at their own pace. Rather than treating farewell as a fixed moment, the design frames it as a journey of transition, through voids, circulation, and a collective of intimate programs.
Aligned with UNSDG 3, the project supports mental health and emotional well-being by providing compassionate spaces for both individuals facing terminal illness and their loved ones. Through calm spatial sequencing and moments of intimacy and gathering, the project allows users to navigate anticipatory grief, reflection, and connection in a dignified, secular and non-clinical setting.
