Gerson Merari Saleleubaja is a Mentawai indigenous journalist, covering various topics that affect the region and community, from illegal logging activities carried out by timber companies to the resistance of indigenous people to dangerous economic permits. His reporting on illegal logging and the subsequent community protest resulted in government revocation of all timber utilisation permits in Mentawai.
