Foreword Coffee Roasters started out as a hole-in-the-wall café at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2017 to empower persons with disabilities and special needs through employment. Since then, Foreword has opened five outlets in Singapore, including a full-fledged outlet back where it started — NUS’ Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music. As testament to Foreword’s commitment to environmental and societal well-being, Foreword became the 17th B-Corp certified business in Singapore in 2022. Prior to that in August 2021, Foreword was one of six recipients at SG Enable’s inaugural Enabling Mark (Platinum) Award, cementing Foreword’s best practices and outcomes in disability-inclusive employment. Lim Wei Jie graduated from NUS with a degree in Psychology. He also has a WSQ Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA). Wei Jie is an alumnus of the NUS College of Alice and Peter Tan and the Chua Thian Poh Community Leadership Centre and continues to engage with students and youths to inspire them to embark on a journey of impact creation.
